On International Women’s Day, we would like to to acknowledge the 45 audacious women in research and professional roles making awesome contributions every day to the success and culture of SMS.
Today we are shining spotlights on only a few who achieved success last year, and continue to rock it in 2019:
Shout outs to:
Kate who was granted tenure last year
Our intrepid leader, Kat who was awarded the Khwarizmi International Award for her contributions to single molecule imaging, a renewal of her Senior Research Fellowship from the NHMRC, and a Cancer Institute NSW grant
Ailis who obtained her Ph.D. and landed a postdoctoral position at SMS
Emma who was promoted to Senior Lecturer, saw her first Ph.D. student to completion, and won an Innovation Connection grant with an infection control company
Chantal who was awarded her Ph.D. and secured a postdoctoral position back home in Chile
Ana who was elected as the inaugural president of the SMS student association (SEAMS), and also presented her research @PintofScienceAU festival last year
Between them, these brilliant women produced 30 papers in 2018 including 3 in Nature Communications, one in PNAS, one in Molecular Cell, 2 in eLIFE, one in Nucleic Acid Research, and one in PLoS Biology.
Watch out for these and many other outstanding individuals from SMS in 2019 and beyond.
